About Jolanta

A Personal Message from Jolanta Maziarz

Hello friends and neighbors,

I’m Jolanta (pronounced “Yolanta”) Maziarz, but you can call me “Jola” (again, pronounced, “Yola”), it’s shorter and a little less complicated. I was born and raised in Queens, New York, and I am proud to say that I am now a nearly twenty year resident of Warren Township.

After my husband and I were married and just starting to think about where we wanted to raise our family, we happened upon Warren and absolutely fell in love with it. After exploring Warren, we dreamed for years about putting down roots in this idyllic place and raising our family here. Our dream did come true, and we moved into our home a little over nineteen years ago with our two girls and a baby boy on the way. Those three children along with another baby boy, have been lucky enough to live here and attend Warren schools from kindergarten through high school. Our older three children graduated from Watchung Hills, where our youngest son is currently a freshman. Warren’s sense of community, the great resources like the municipal fields and the library, the schools, the recreational programs, the local business community and the Township’s rural character have decidedly enriched our lives. My family and I very much appreciate the opportunities that Warren Township has offered to us, and we all agree that it’s time to give back. If given the opportunity to serve this great Township, my goal is to continue to maintain and build upon the quality of life that we have enjoyed and ensure that future generations benefit from the same experiences and advantages we have been afforded.

In my professional life, I have built a law practice that focuses almost exclusively on the representation of municipalities. I have worked and continue to work for municipalities in a variety of areas, including municipal law, zoning and land use, affordable housing, historic preservation, ordinance revision, and redevelopment, to name a few. I have also worked on behalf of municipalities as a volunteer. For almost the last decade, I have served as the Deputy Chairperson to the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, Land Use, Environment, and Community Development Legislative Subcommittee, and have spent countless hours studying and opining on pending legislation to ascertain potential impacts on municipalities. My work with the Legislative Committee has afforded me the opportunity to work with legislators and with elected and appointed officials throughout the State. I have had the distinct opportunity to experience and better understand the unique issues facing municipalities and the potential solutions to problems that all municipalities invariably face. I also serve as a Trustee of the Institute of Local Government Attorneys and as Counsel to the Somerset County and Warren County Governing Officials Associations, nonprofit organizations that offer educational programs and support to local government attorneys and to elected and appointed officials.

Warren has been recognized, on numerous occasions, as a cohesive and very well-run community, but even a resourceful community like ours will face challenges from outside forces and from the imposition of mandates. If elected, I will draw upon my background and my experience at the County and State levels to offer assistance and solutions wherever possible. I will support a fiscally conservative budget and the implementation of cost-saving measures, such as outsourcing and shared services, that make sense for our community. I will be involved in monitoring any cost saving measure to ensure its objective is fulfilled and the level of service is not compromised. I will champion the careful and strategic implementation of the current affordable housing requirements, and I will strive to protect and conserve our rural character. I will also support green initiatives and recreational opportunities, especially for our youth. I will continue to lend my voice and my experience to help find solutions to the issues that Warren will face in the future related to, for example, the implementation of future affordable housing obligations, and I will continue to fight unreasonable legislative mandates.

I believe that government is required to be accountable and to serve the best interests of its community. If elected, quite simply, I will work for you. My door will always be open, and I will look forward to finding opportunities and new ways to engage with you. We live here together. I want to hear your concerns and your suggestions about this place. In return, you will receive action, information and an explanation; you will always know where I stand. I will always ensure that you have a seat at the table.

I appreciate your taking the time to read this, and I humbly ask for your support on Election Day.
Thank you! – Jola
